SPRING SPEED SCHOOL: 8 WEEKS (April 16th - June 10th)
GET STRONG - GET FAST - GET TOUGH THIS SPRING WITH EXPERT SPEED COACH ADAM PLUMMER, MSc
Research and work with young athletes has proven that a structured, progressive training strategy can significantly improve speed, quickness and agility. Despite the Canadian coaching myth that fast athletes are born not made, speed can be improved in any athlete at any point in their career even if they are naturally fast. HERE ARE JUST A FEW EXAMPLES OF THE TECHNIQUE WORK YOU WILL DO AT OUR SESSIONS:
how to make explosive directional changes like an NFL wide receiver
how to jump like an NBA point guard
how to sprint like an Olympic 100m track star
learn efficient running technique like that of a professional soccer player
learn what it means to eat for performance
learn why most workouts fail to develop athleticism and how to identify a knowledgeable coach
learn the 3 keys to making coaches remember you during tryouts
learn why most fitness programs make you soft and slow
learn how to cut your recovery time in half after a workout
learn how to develop and maintain elite level flexibility for a lifetime
learn how to manage injuries from the moment they occur all the way to long-term prevention strategies
PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
WEEKS 1-2: warm up for speed, performance posture, introduction to body weight strength training , performance balance, efficient body mechanics.
WEEK 3: acceleration sprinting technique, explosive first step technique, and performance agility/quickness technique.
WEEK 4: explosive lateral movement technique, backward movement technique, cutting speed technique.
WEEKS 5-6: top speed sprinting technique, explosive jumping technique, more advanced strength development techniques
WEEKS 7-8: medicine ball power training, agility strap games, interval fitness drills, how to run a 40 yard dash start to finish, review the key lessons from the previous 7 weeks and finish with a speed circuit competition
Location: West Point Grey Park (North)/Trimble Park @ Trimble Street & W 8th Ave
(Field is located adjacent to Queen Mary Elementary School)
Shoes: please bring cleats if you have them

TRAINING DAYS:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Athletes can sign up for 1-2 sessions per week over the 8 week program. If you sign up for 1 session per week you may come to a different day within the program to make up for missed sessions. If you sign up for 2 sessions per week you may also come to other days to make up missed sessions. All missed sessions must be made up within the spring program.

FREQUENCY: Flexible with you designing your own schedule - choose 1-2 classes/ week
*For maximum results the optimal training frequency is 2 sessions per week

ABOUT THE COACH
ADAM PLUMMER, MSc, PES
Extensive experience working with professional athletes in the NFL, MLS, and PG
Head speed-strength and conditioning coach for the 2005 & 2007 CIS National Champion UBC Mens soccer program
CIS All-Canadian Centre Forward for UBC Thunderbirds Mens
Taken by Vancouver Whitecaps in 2001 A-League Draft (retired same year due to injury)
Masters of Science degree, Human Biomechanics and Physiology - Performance Enhancement & Injury Prevention Specialization
PES Certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancement Specialist
Founder of the Speed Science - Power Development System
ADAMS LATEST COACHING TRAINING: in 2011 Adam spent 4 months training down in Arizona with the worlds most respected sports training facility, Athletes Performance Inc. This is the company responsible for the training of the German National Soccer team, the US National Soccer Team, the LA Galaxy, and countless NFL and MLB players. During Adams time down there he had the opportunity to work side by side with some of the worlds most explosive professional athletes. Specifically football players preparing for the NFL combine. Adam also had the chance to do a lot of work with professional MLS soccer players getting ready for their seasons. Adam is now going to fuse the training he learned working with the pros to deliver the most technologically advanced speed programs ever offered to the young athletes of British Columbia.
